HVAC Install & Technician
Description
The HVAC Install and Technician Program will prepare students to become useful and profitable members of any
HVAC team. The program not only provides practical hands-on training but will help students learn the right way
to install and start residential and light commercial equipment. Students practice maintenance and installation
of equipment in our state-of-the art workshop. Skills covered include but are not limited to proper use of standard HVAC troubleshooting tools, brazing, refrigerant recovery and charging, basic install, basic electricity, measuring airflow, and constructing sheet metal fittings and more. This program may serve as a substitution for up to two years of the three years required in the apprenticeship for the Mechanical Journeyman’s License.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for refrigerant handling is required to be passed (Social Security Number required).
Application
Applicants must complete a SouthernTech Application for Admission. Additional information and applications are
available at the SouthernTech campus and online at www.sotech.edu. Enrollment for this program is open to adults and partnering High Schools (juniors/seniors).
Financial Aid and Scholarships
This program is approved for Federal Financial Aid; Payment Plans and Scholarships may be available.
