FULL TIME POSITIONS

Purpose of Job: 

To develop and implement a marketing and communications plan for SouthernTech that connects the purposes and philosophies of the technology center to the community-at-large and to potential clients, employees, students, and volunteers by making effective use of a variety of communication strategies all while ensuring brand integrity.

 

Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions of the Job:
  1. Support and promote the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
  2. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
  3. Support and assist in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
  4. In collaboration with the leadership team, develop the district marketing plan to include internal and external communication activities that address goals and objectives outlined in the SouthernTech Strategic Plan. Submit annual plan to the Superintendent for recommendation of Board approval.
  5. In collaboration with Student Services determine and establish written internal and external communication and marketing strategies to promote programs, services and the school image. Oversee the execution of all strategies.
  6. Responsible for the achievement of district enrollment goals through successfully implementing student recruitment and enrollment strategies.
  7. Based on the established approved marketing plan, develop, design, produce and distribute all advertising and promotional materials for the district including brochures, newsletters, displays, web pages, social media information directories and other similar tools to improve the reach and impact of internal and external communications. Assess the effectiveness of such materials and revise regularly as necessary.
  8. Work with Graphic Design and Video Production to use and manage student interns to coordinate creative design, writing and photographic services for publications, activities, brochures, newsletters, newspaper articles and feature stories.
  9. In cooperation with the IT Director and Program Directors, assist in the monitoring and maintenance of the SouthernTech website, content and social media platforms to ensure feasibility and functionality in relation to enhancing district communications and marketing.
  10. Prepare an annual budget to support Communications & Marketing Plan strategies. Manage, track, and report budget and return on investment (ROI)
  11. Organize and set up displays and/or promotional booths at career fairs, recruiting events, community events, and other informational events within SouthernTech’s District.
  12. Advise Administration on public relations consequences of policies, events, and programs.
  13. Seek to improve communications and marketing skills through attendance and active participation in Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology’s Communications and Marketing Council, the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association (OKSPRA), and other conferences as required.
  14. Keep up with trends and innovative methods to increase public awareness of SouthernTech successes.
  15. Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with area media contacts and representatives in the newspaper, radio and television fields.
  16. Develop and implement special programs, activities, and special events aimed at increasing public relations efforts with the student populations.
  17. Develop and maintain professional relationships with partner school staffs, officials representing city, county, state and governmental offices and civic and community group representatives located within SouthernTech’s service district and other individuals and agencies who have an expressed interest in SouthernTech to maximize SouthernTech’s visibility and open lines of communication.
  18. Coordinate and administer marketing/media programs and conduct in-service training for faculty and staff on media, marketing, and communications related topics to ensure presentation of a consistent branding and messaging via all mediums and to assure all marketing materials from SouthernTech are seamless and professional.
  19. Grasp marketing concepts and target markets in order to assist in organizing available data for use in future promotions.
  20. Research and analyze data to develop the best form of communication with target market.
  21. Assist in preparation and application for OKACTE/OCTEC awards nominations
  22. Responsible for obtaining photographic images for use in marketing and communication throughout the school to include annual all-staff photo and images from classrooms, events, and functions.
  23. Regular attendance following a designated work schedule.
  24. Grant writing and administration of grants as needed.
 Other:
  1. Perform other duties, assume responsibilities and exercise other authority as may be required or directed upon by law, immediate supervisor, Deputy Superintendent and District Superintendent of SouthernTech.

Education, Knowledge, Skill, & Experience Requirements:

Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in English/Journalism/Marketing and/or Master’s Degree preferred in related field or equivalent experience in field of 5 -10 years.
  2. APR Certification Required.
  3. Marketing certification Preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Working knowledge of computerized office programs, Oklahoma School Law, federal and state laws, and the SouthernTech education system.
  2. Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite
  3. Working knowledge of all relevant social media platforms
  4. Working knowledge of photographic imaging and related techniques
  5. Function as an effective SouthernTech team player.
  6. Ability to function professionally during high stress situations.
  7. Ability to implement, facilitate, and complete multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner, while handling a high volume of tasks from multiple individuals.
  8. Ability to seek out newsworthy leads.
  9. Excellent research and analytical skills.
  10. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
 
 

Purpose of Job:

The Program Support Administrator role is responsible for the administrative operations of the WRO Employment Center, data entry, and organizational tasks. This individual will work closely with the local leadership team to perform multifaceted, time-sensitive functions to ensure that projects are organized and completed effectively and in a timely fashion. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, confidentiality, and dependability. This position will be responsible for providing reports and data to the WRO central office. Additionally, this person may join in program activities with participants during peak training times.

 Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions of the Job:
    1. Accurately manage information, data, and resources, including systems for paper and electronic documents, databases, spreadsheets, and other materials and resources
    2. Provide logistical support for meetings and division activities by taking notes and preparing resources
    3. Provide support for the preparation of client reports and internal project management tools
    4. Work with key staff to maintain accurate and thorough records of project activities, program deliverables, and outcomes
    5. Help with the preparation of presentations, spreadsheets, and other materials.
    6. Establish and maintain filing and record keeping for project activities
    7. Support efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the facility and grounds.
    8. Responsible for maintaining and upkeep of the essential operational functions to include the physical location and technological resources.
    9. Other duties as assigned

 

Authority of the Position:

Authority to use discretion, judgment, and knowledge according to federal and state law, school policy, and administrative regulations, by assignment and approval the District Superintendent.

    2. Advanced Microsoft Office skills and an ability to become familiar with firm-specific programs and software

Purpose of Job:

Drive gas or diesel bus on routes and field trips as assigned, observing state and city speed limits and safety regulations as well as customer service and safety policies.  Maintain campus grounds and fleet vehicles in a clean and attractive manner.  Monday - Friday, various shifts available.

Education and Experience:  

  1. High School or GED preferred.
  2. Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License (CDL A or B) w/ passenger and school bus endorsement or must obtain within 120 days.
  3. School Bus Certification or must obtain within 120 days.
  4. Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT physical and drug test.
  5. Previous landscaping & grounds maintenance preferred.
 
 
 

 

PART TIME POSITIONS

Purpose of Job: 

Teach or instruct vocational or occupational subjects at the postsecondary level to students who have graduated or left high school. Subjects to be taught include technical & industrial trades, business skills, health careers, safety, leadership skills, and  life long learning classes. Teaching may take place at the Career Tech, at a satellite facilities  or at a business location.  Availability will be on a part time as needed basis throughout the fiscal year. 

Requirements: 

At least 3 years of experience in the last 5 years in area of instruction and/or specific trade certification, if required.

 

Subject matter experts needed to instruct classes in the absence of the regular instructor. 

 

Requirements include:

  1. Certification in the subject matter area if required by the governing agency.
  2. Three - Five years experience in the subject matter area.
  3. Experience with a learning management system preferred.
