ARDMORE, Okla., (KTEN) —Students enrolled in Southern Tech's HVAC and robotics programs recently traveled to a national skills competition in Georgia.
The competition gave Southern Tech the opportunity to showcase its programs and students outside of southern Oklahoma.
"It was really fun to see everyone's robots and get to put to the test what you've been working on for a long time," said robotics student Madison Anderson. "We personally worked on ours for over a month."
Kyros Tuazon was named National High School sheet metal champion.
“I walked away feeling confident, and I felt pretty good in the end, and felt like what I made would make everyone else proud,” Tuazon explained. “They called me up eventually for gold and directed me up to the stage. It was amazing! I couldn't even explain the feeling."
The competition was hosted by SkillsUSA, a non-profit organization that prepares students for careers after graduation.
