We are hosting a camp in collaboration with OU Sooner Flight Academy and Community Sponsors to plant the seed for future students of our Aviation Technology programs. This summer, we will be getting camp 'off the ground' with 30 incoming 5th and 6th graders in SouthernTech's district. Camp includes 4-days of fun, field trip transportation, a t-shirt, and supplies for activities. The camp will focus on a new Falcons curriculum of topics related to engineering professions, aircraft design, and material science. Students will be introduced to Bernoulli's Principle, parts of the airplane, Rube Goldberg, and wind turbines. Model rockets will be built and launched, and kites will be flown. Campers will build space stations in a pool, and they will enjoy lots of outdoor activities. A couple of things are different this year: Airplane flights will NOT be provided, and campers must bring their lunch each day.
