AHA BLENDED BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

This American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Course uses a blended format with self-paced online learning and an in-person skills session. It’s intended for healthcare professionals needing BLS certification for work or licensure.

Certification: Upon successful completion of both the online and hands-on portions, participants receive an AHA Heartsaver® CPR AED eCard, valid for 2 years.

AHA Blended Heartsaver CPR/AED

The American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver® CPR AED Course is for those with little or no medical training who need certification for job or regulatory purposes. It combines online learning with an in-person skills session.

Certification: Upon successful completion of both the online and hands-on portions, participants receive an AHA Heartsaver® CPR AED eCard, valid for 2 years.

EKG Technician

This EKG Technician course trains students to perform EKGs and prepares them for the NHA certification exam. It covers EKG equipment use, heart rhythm analysis, vital sign monitoring, and basic cardiovascular anatomy.

Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to sit for the NHA Certified EKG Technician exam and pursue entry-level employment as an EKG Technician.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Experienced instructors prepare students for National and State EMT Certification. The course includes 216 hours of classroom instruction (Mondays, Wednesdays, and one Saturday per month) plus 40 hours of clinical experience with local EMS partners, totaling 256 hours of training. Emergency Medical Technicians provide basic emergency care and patient transport as part of the EMS system, working under medical oversight with standard ambulance equipment. NREMT licensure exam cost is not included.

Graduates are eligible to seek either Oklahoma State Certification or national certification through the National Registry of EMTs.

IV Therapy for Healthcare Professionals

This IV Therapy Course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and hands-on skills to safely initiate and manage intravenous therapy, covering essential techniques and best practices.

Certification: Certificate of Completion in IV Therapy.

Long Term Care Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

This course prepares students to become Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) with a focus on long-term care, including nursing homes, assisted living, and rehabilitation centers. Training covers essential nursing skills, patient care, and the CNA’s role in supporting residents with chronic and age-related conditions. State-mandated attendance is required. Course cost includes textbook, workbook, CPR certification, background check, and drug test. Additional cost requirements, not included in the course costs, are a Negative TB test or chest x-ray, a CNA Skills Test ($50) and a CNA Written Test ($50).

Certification: Oklahoma Long Term Care Aide.

Medical Assisting WED

Medical Assistants are vital healthcare team members who handle both administrative and clinical tasks in settings such as physicians’ offices, clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. Their duties range from managing clerical responsibilities to assisting practitioners during patient exams. Additional cost requirements, not included in the course costs, are a solid color uniform (estimated at $50) and a Certified Phlebotomy Exam (approximately $125).

Medication Administration Technician (MAT)

The Medication Administration Technician (MAT) class is designed to train qualified individuals to safely and effectively administer medications in various healthcare settings, including assisted living facilities, memory care units, group homes, and private care environments. This course emphasizes proper medication handling, documentation, infection control, and legal and ethical responsibilities related to medication administration.

Certification: Certificate of Completion in Medication Administration Technician.

Nurse Refresher

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing and SouthernTech are enrolling LPNs and RNs in a Nurse Refresher course with three components: a self-paced online theory module, a skills lab, and a clinical rotation. The course can be completed in six months.

Once you successfully complete the above, you will receive a completion certification that enables you to move forward with steps to obtain your license.

Phlebotomy Technician

This course prepares students to perform compassionate and safe blood collection. Training includes anatomy, infection control, lab safety, specimen handling, and ethical considerations, with both classroom and hands-on instruction for work in hospitals, labs, blood banks, and other healthcare settings.

Certification: National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician.

Vital Signs

This beginner class teaches how to measure and understand vital signs, with a focus on blood pressure. Students will practice taking accurate readings with manual and digital equipment and learn about temperature, pulse, and breathing rate. No experience required—ideal for anyone interested in health, caregiving, or basic medical skills.
