Experience the best of three emerging career areas—business management, information technology and health care—all in one! While working within a medical facility and its day-to-day operations, patient health information needs to be cared for to ensure its quality, integrity and protection. Students receive specialized training and hands-on practice necessary to manage and protect information vital to patient care. You will receive well-rounded training in multiple content areas allowing you to become a Patient Account Specialist. These areas include: medical terminology, electronic health records, health insurance, patient billing, medical coding. financial operations and HIPAA compliance. Students will have an opportunity to work with emerging technologies, experience hands-on applications in completing real-world business or health projects and master the use of electronic health records management systems. Students can earn CMAA (Certified Medical Administrative Assistant) and CEHRS (Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist) certifications and advanced college credit at Murray State College.

Secondary Student: Free. Post-secondary Student (in-district): $2.50 per hour; Post-secondary Student (Out-of-District): $5 per hour; and Post-secondary Student (Out-of-State): $7.50 per hour. Additional costs may include books, supplies, and miscellaneous fees.
