Your community technology center values excellence, competence, diversity, integrity, accountability, innovation, listening & collaboration, service and leadership. Thank you to Kenny Shade for demonstrating the characteristics that we value. We are glad to have you as a teammate!
Math & Adult Basic Education Instructor
"Mr. Shade is the epitome of SouthernTech Core Values. This school year, Kenneth Shade has been challenged with beginning the EmPower Program along with teaching his additional math classes. He has done all of this with grace and many long days of going 100 mph! Kenny has demonstrated excellence through celebrating the accomplishments of all of the EmPower and Math students. For this program, continuous improvements have been made while he was on the "fly." He views any issue with a positive attitude and accepts responsibility for "making it better!" This has happened several times this year and processes for next year have already began being remastered! He has celebrated the student successes and encouraged several of the students to continue their education. He has several math students who have taken CLEP tests and passed! He has already had several EmPower students complete their high school credits!
Kenny has shown competence through having the knowledge, skill and abilities to uphold SouthernTech's mission in
order to meet stakeholder and customer expectations. He works with each school to ensure students are obtaining their credits needed to graduate. He works with the AEFL (GED) students to ensure that they are receiving the attention and assistance they need in order to be successful. He does all of this while traveling back and forth between classrooms. Mr. Shade values diversity! At any given time, Kenny will be assisting 20 students at different levels of instruction and in different curricular areas. He is also keenly aware of meeting the students' needs in and out of the classroom; he continually seeks additional assistance with resources when needed or he feels there is a need. Integrity and service are displayed by the fact that Mr. Shade not only strives towards quality within the classroom, but within his community as well. He works 10-11 hours each day, but still finds time to volunteer as a soccer coach, referee or for his church. While doing these activities, he tells many people about the opportunities through the EmPower Program as well as SouthernTech! He has provided several potential students with contact information in order for them to continue his activities. Once again, Kenneth Shade is most deserving as Employee of the Month as he has worked tirelessly this year and has made a profound impact in the lives of all his students as well as the community."
